So yeah, I recently began reading the novel "On a Pale Horse" by Piers Anthony. Yes, the main character KILLS DEATH. Now you must be thinking something like
"What? But how can you kill Death?"
Well apparently by aiming a gun at his head and pulling the trigger. Then, also apparently, by killing Death you are appointed his office.
The book is actually pretty good and the author is very imaginative in his portrayal of Death. Some of the things he invents for Deaths use make you step back and go "Wtf?" like his switchblade scythe (Apparently it's magic) and the Deathmobile. Then of course there's the method of transport for the souls entering Heaven or hell. Also apparently the Devil is a very smooth operator that can talk you into believing nearly anything.
You may have noticed my excessive use of the word "apparently." Well it was intentional. I used the word to signify how so many of these ideas seem to come out of left field, but all of them make sense in a way. This was likely the first time an author decided to get into Death's life (lol oxymoron) and show what it's like, so you can't really blame him for the odd ideas.
Overall it's a very nice read and probably deserves a look, but be forewarned. It was written in 1983 and some social standards in the book may not exist today. If you are easily offended by anything involving religion then don't read it (Pussy).
Also, Max Jenius is THE Pimp of anime.
